Sanjaya Malakar was "voted" off of American Idol last night! I don't believe for a second that Sanjaya actually got the lowest amount of votes. The "Vote for the Worst" campaign has spread like a wildfire across America, with everyone from Howard Stern to Perez Hilton urging people to vote for Sanjaya. What a rip.

And now back to ignoring American Idol.......

Tonight is The Office's season finale. This year has seen Michael (Steve Carell) go from stupid and ignorant to completely insane. Jim is with Karen. Pam got back together and then broke up with Roy. Dwight shuns Andy and gets with Angela.

It's not as good as season two, but still one of the best shows currently on television.

Before I get to the season finale of The Office, I just read this:

NEW YORK (May 17, 2007) -- Everybody's favorite receptionist is going to be laid up for a little while, but luckily Jenna Fischer - aka "The Office's" Pam Beesly - won't be needing to ask Michael Scott for any time off.

Fischer slipped on a marble staircase at an event in New York City on Monday night, fracturing four bones in her lower back.

A rep for the actress told Access Hollywood Fischer avoided any serious injury to her spine.

She spent the night at St. Vincent's hospital where her "Office" co-worker Angela Kinsey and other friends came to visit her. Fischer's husband, director James Gunn, also flew in from Los Angeles to be by her side, her rep confirmed.

While the injury forced her to cancel several press activities in conjunction with the NBC Upfronts, her rep said Fischer is expected to make a full recovery in time to shoot Season Four of "The Office" later this summer.

Now I'm going to try and not mention any specific details of what happened this season's final episode of The Office, but if you are a fan of the show and haven't seen this episode you should stop reading now. Otherwise.....

It's Shark Week on the Discovery Channel!!! I know you're totes excited about this. Actually, it's the 20th anniversary of Shark Week, from July 29th to August 4th. How are you celebrating? Can you name four ways to stop a shark from attacking you?

The Strokes' Fabrizio Moretti is hooking up with his ex, Drew Barrymore, to produce a show for VH1:

"Clash of the Music Videos," a music-video competition show for VH1....In each episode of "Clash," two contestants will be given a small amount of money to remake a classic 1980s music video. The stars of the original video will then judge the entries and pick the winner.

Series is conceived as a set of stand-alone episodes, with each week bringing a fresh set of contestants. Net has not yet determined how many episodes it will order; series is set to bow in early 2008.

I still think The Office (U.S. Version) should have ended last season. It had a great finale episode and that should have been it. Well, if the above "What I Did This Summer?" trailer proves anything, at least it seems to be some of the best sitcom writing on television.

The Office kicked off its 4th season on Thursday. I wish they ended the series last season, but they proved to still be one the best written sitcom on television. For those of you who saw the episode, titled "Fun Run," you may find yourself wanting some Michael Scott D.M.S.M.P.M.C. Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race memorabilia, which NBC is already selling here.

For those of you who missed the episode but wanted to see it, you'll be upset to hear that iTunes will not be selling any episodes of Season Four of The Office after a dispute with NBC and and the shows production company over money. The only way to download the show is through Amazon's Unbox/Tivo service, which absolutely sucks cause you can't put the video onto any sort of portable media play (ie ipods, zune, etc). Oh well, office politics are a bitch.

And for those super obsessed fans of The Office, you may want to make your way to The Office Convention in Scanton, PA, from October 26 - 28th! Scheduled to appear are Leslie David Baker (Stanley), Brian Baumgartner (Kevin), Creed Bratton (Creed), Kate Flannery (Meredith), Mindy Kaling (Kelly), Angela Kinsey (Angela), Oscar Nunez (Oscar), Bobby Ray Shafer (Bob Vance - Vance Refrigeration), Phyllis Smith (Phyllis), and more members of the cast are likely to join. American Idol began a new season. Does anyone care? I'm waiting for Vote For The Worst campaign to start again so we can find the next Sanjaya!

Here's some interesting stories about season seven contestants:

The biggest offender by far is Irish singer Carly Hennessy. During season 5, Carly was pimped by Simon Cowell before the show even started as “the only person I can genuinely remember from the auditions.” Carly was fortunately dropped from the ranks for not having a visa. Nigel Lythgoe, one of the obnoxious executive producers of Idol, is already back to hinting about her even though she’s never said a word on the show. So why is Carly getting so much hype, and what happened in her past?

Carly Hennessy is the epitome of a record industry failure. She was brought to America by MCA Records and recorded a bland pop album [that was pushed with a $2 million publicity and marketing campaign] that sold only 300 copies (that’s not a typo). Then she faded into obscurity. Now, a mastermind behind the scenes at Idol has decided that instead of just signing Carly to an Idol-affiliated record label, she should be pushed down America’s throats as a contestant on American Idol. Back with brand new tattoos and an "edgier" sound, the record execs connected to Idol are probably hoping that Carly will finally catch on when she’s featured on the #1 TV show in the country. To make things even messier, one of the songwriters for Carly's album also wrote songs for the debut albums of Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and Kimberley Locke. There's a definite Idol connection here, folks.

The sad part is that Carly is not an exception this year. There are many, many more contestants who are supposedly in the top 50 and have failed careers. Michael Johns is another notable contestant. An Australian import, he was formerly the lead singer of a band called The Rising and changed his name from Michael Lee. Michael was signed to Maverick Records and was supposed to release a debut album in 2003 after allegedly screwing over The Rising by leaving the band.

Kristy Lee Cook was signed to Arista Nashville, had Britney Spears lined up to appear in her debut video in 2001, and is managed by Marty Rendleman, who previously managed Leann Rimes. She also apparently loves to alienate most of America by singing in front of a Confederate flag in a video.
