Bob Odenkirk: Craigslist Penis Photographer + Bob & David pull plug on their new HBO Series

First off, Bob Odenkirk is hysterical. Second, it seems that Bob & David won't be returning to HBO with their much-anticipated follow-up to Mr. Show, David's Situation. Bob explains:

Here is a short bit [after the jump] of the pilot David and I shot for HBO a few months ago. HBO was AWESOME to let us shoot it, and we are the ones who nixed going forward with the show...however-
-We all had such a good time that David and I are working on a new show that will let us kick ass. I put this video up because I think it kicks ass. I know you are missing story here...basically Zach Galifianakis plays an annoying old friend of David's who chances upon his house just when the house is being used to tape an episode of "Good Morning, Predator". Zach's character, LAME, has a shitty song he loves to sing to everyone and he does so here, completely oblivious to the fact that he is being labeled a predator. He's so happy to be on TV, that that is all that matters. It's a funny song, and cool video. Enjoy. (OH, and once again, HBO didn't nix the show, WE did...so don't get mad at them. They are on our side and we're hoping to work with them in the future - hopefully the near future).

Watch the clip from David's Situation after the jump....

"The State" Complete Series DVD finally coming out

After years of back and forth, MTV will finally release "The State" Complete Series on DVD on July 14th, 2009.

When "The State" released Season One on iTunes, a big complaint was that they had to replace virtually all the music they originally used because they could not afford the rights to the songs they used when the show originally aired on MTV. Now that MTV will be putting out the DVDs, I wonder if they DVD's will feature their original soundtrack. (Big thanks to Bumpershine)

Pee-Wee Herman coming to Broadway, tickets on presale

pee_wee.jpgThe Pee-Wee Herman Show will be coming to Broadway's Stephen Sondhiem Theater for a six-week run beginning on October 26th.

In January, Mr. Reubens revived “The Pee-wee Herman Show” at Club Nokia at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, the first time in several years that he had played the character for a sustained period.

Not that Mr. Reubens needed any warm-up time to rediscover his inner Pee-wee. “It just came right back out like it was yesterday,” he said. “I don’t know what to make of that. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.”

Besides, Mr. Reubens said, “if I can’t muster that up, then I better quit.”

The well-received Los Angeles run laid the groundwork for the Broadway production, which is produced by Scott Sanders (“The Color Purple”) and directed by Alex Timbers (“Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson”), who also directed the Los Angeles incarnation.

While Mr. Reubens and his creative team have just begun discussing how the production will be adapted and enhanced for the Broadway stage, the show will feature music by Jay Cotton and puppetry by Basil Twist (“The Addams Family”). Additional human casting has not yet been announced, but familiar “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” characters like Conky the Robot and Chairry the talking chair are expected to be part of the ensemble.

“I felt if people came to it now,” Mr. Reubens said, “they would be going, ‘Where’s the talking chair?’ ”

For Mr. Reubens, who will be making his Broadway debut, the project is the fulfillment of a lifelong goal, dating back to his first trip with his grandparents to see a Broadway musical in 1962. (That musical? Jerry Herman and Don Appell’s “Milk and Honey.”)

It’s also a really good excuse to come to New York and do some sightseeing. (“Some group of tourists is going to be joined by me,” Mr. Reubens said.)

Until then, Mr. Reubens said he has to figure out how to suppress his childlike impatience for the show’s October opening. “The pressure of Twittering and Facebook posting between now and when I open is just daunting,” he said.

Tickets are now on presale for these shows. Go here for tickets. The password is "SCREAM".
