DOWNLOAD: Tinted Windows - "Doncha Wonna"
Tinted Windows made their low-key New York City debut last evening at the Mercury Lounge. James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle), Taylor Hanson (Hanson), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Ivy) and Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick) played a solid forty-five minute set that featured every track from their debut album - out today - and a cover of the Buzzcock's "I Don't Know."
The groups sound was a throwback to 70's AM pop-rock. Even the video for their first single seems to be set in 1974. You could certainly hear the Cheap Trick influence on a number of songs. Other tracks brought to mind The Knack, The Cars or Girlfriend-era Matthew Sweet. I do wish they wore matching suits though.
