Al Franken wins Minnesota Senate seat by 225 votes

Franken_Lying_Liars.jpgWhile I'm thrilled that such a progressive has been elected, let's be honest that the fact that Al "Stuart Smalley" Franken is now a United States Senator is kind of like a bad Saturday Night Live skit.

The Minnesota Supreme Court has rejected Republican Norm Coleman's request to count an additional 650 rejected absentee ballots in the state's U.S. Senate recount.

The court's ruling Monday likely paves the way for the state Canvassing Board to certify results showing Democrat Al Franken won the race. But Coleman's attorneys have said they are likely to sue if he loses the recount, meaning it could be weeks more before the outcome is final.

Coleman had argued the ballots were improperly rejected. In a five-page ruling, the high court said the dispute was among issues better handled in an "election contest," or lawsuit.

Franken leads Coleman by 225 votes after the state finished counting more than 900 absentee ballots that the state and the campaigns earlier had agreed were improperly rejected.

Robert Zimmerman:

Bob Dylan doesn't crack your top 10 from Minnesota? Really?

Dylan was originally number one on the list, but just because he was born in Duluth and played some clubs at the very start of his career, I have a hard time considering him a member of the minnesota scene. He is so identified with NYC and not really at all with the twin cities.

Rand:

While I'm not sure Dylan is less relevant to the Minnesota scene than some of these others, who've been quiet for a decade plus, I will certainly accept your logic about him being better associated with NYC, but what happened to The Hold Steady?

Like Dylan, The Hold Steady have deep roots in Minn, but The Hold Steady is a Brooklyn band.

It's great to have PSNYC back, so even though I don't agree, I'm gonna go do a fist-pump and a wahoo. Seriously, welcome back.

Hello everyone. Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort. Help me! I find sites on the topic: Central serous retinopathy and celebrex. I found only this - celebrex oral. Celebrex, there are effective experts to the warmth netting lot, side, disease, transition, pain search, shopping, quoits, and esophagus finger. Without important infectious use, the mean is much prescribed, celebrex. Thanks :o. Syna from Congo.
