McCAIN-PALIN | Breaking Down Palin's Lies

All of Sarah Palin's comments come directly from her Republican Convention speech:

Our son Track is 19, and one week from tomorrow, September 11th, he'll deploy to Iraq with the Army infantry in the service of his country.
Rumor has it that Track enlisted in the Army only after he was caught vandalizing 45 school buses, causing some $10,000 worth of damage to state property and was ordered by a judge to either serve in the Army or go to prison. Also, it is strictly against army regulation to publicly reveal when and where a soldier is being deployed. You would think the Vice President would be aware of that simple rule.

And children with special needs inspire a very, very special love. To the families of special needs to the families of special needs children all across this country, I have a message for you. For years, you've sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. And I pledge to you that if we're elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.
As Governor of Alaska, Palin actually cut funding to special need students by 62% or more than $5 million. .

I grew up with those people. They're the ones who do some of the hardest work in America, who grow our food and run our factories and fight our wars. They love their country in good times and bad and they're always proud of America.
Sarah Palin was a member for a large part of the 90's of the Alaska Independence Party, whose motto is "Alaska First" and wants to secede from the United States of America. She has spoken at their yearly conventions three times, the last time being last year. Her husband was a registered member of the AIP until 2001.

I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.
Considering the Republican platform calls for smaller government and more power to the people, it is shocking that they would insult community organizer's whose jod is help give disenfranchised citizens a voice in politics. Famous community leaders include Martin Luther King Jr, Pat Robertson, Paul Wellstone, Ralph Nader and Jesus H. Christ.

As I for my running mate, you can be certain that wherever he goes and whoever is listening, John McCain is the same man.
McCain vs McCain:

Well, I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment.
Actually, this is true. She wasn't always a Republican. She was once a member of the secessionist Alaska Independence Party.

This was the spirit that brought me to the governor's office when I took on the old politics as usual in Juneau, when I stood up to the special interests and the lobbyists and the Big Oil companies and the good old boys.
From During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign. Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6
years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a
regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents. The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million." (Wasilla resident Anne Kilkenny http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/sarahpalin.asp

I came to office promising major ethics reform to end the culture of self-dealing. I love to drive myself to work.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a "per diem" allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business. The governor also has charged the state for travel expenses to take her children on official out-of-town missions. And her husband, Todd, has billed the state for expenses and a daily allowance for trips he makes on official business for his wife. Palin, who earns $125,000 a year, claimed and received $16,951 as her allowance, which officials say was permitted because her official "duty station" is Juneau, according to an analysis of her travel documents by The Washington Post. The governor's daughters and husband charged the state $43,490 to travel, and many of the trips were to and from their house in Wasilla and Juneau, the documents show. (Denver Post)

While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the Governor's Office that I didn't believe our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay.
Palin did list the plane on eBay three times, but it was never actually sold through eBay.

And I thought we could muddle through without the governor's personal chef, although I got to admit that sometimes my kids sure miss her.
Palin didn't fire the chef. She transferred her to the Republican state legislature to cook gourmet meals in their legislative lounge.

Our state budget is under control. We have a surplus. And I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending, nearly half a billion dollars in vetoes.
As Governor, Palin increased Alaska's operating budget, paid for by tax money from $3.343 billion in 2007 to $3.763 billion in 2008 to $4.242 billion, so far, in 2009. The two year increase is a whooping 27 percent -- hardly a measure of fiscal restraint.

We suspended the state fuel tax and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress.
As Mayor, Palin helped secure almost $27 million in projects for Wasilla, Alaska, a town of 5,000 residents. And during Palin's tenure as governor, Alaska requested 31 earmarks worth $197.8 million in next year's federal budget. (Washington Post). Gov. Palin has requested $750 million in the past two years as governor -- which the AP says is the largest per-capita request in the nation. (Wall Street Journal)

I told the Congress "thanks, but no thanks" on that bridge to nowhere. If our state wanted to build a bridge, we were going to build it ourselves.
Not only did Palin support the Bridge to Nowhere project, until it became apparent that Ted Stevens was going to be indicted, but she has yet to return the earmarked Bridge to Nowhere money to congress.

I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence. That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are open, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart.
No construction on any pipeline in Alaska has begun. In addition, the Governor approved outsourcing the building of the pipeline to aa Canadian energy company, TransCanada Corp., and pay it up to $500 million as an incentive to someday start the project.....

Government is too big. He wants to grow it.
Palin fails to mention that the Government has grown more under a Republican administration than it has ever grown before. Our country now owes trillions of dollars to China, amongst others.

The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes and raise payroll taxes and raise investment income taxes and raise the death tax and raise business taxes and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.
Completely false. Obama's plan cuts taxes for middle and lower class families. Under McCain's plan, tax breaks go to major corporations ($4 billion for oil companies in a year they made record profits), with nothing to average working citizens.
McCain's campaign is being run by seven top lobbyists, he ahs accepted money from Jack Abramoff and was a member of the Keating Five, which was one of the biggest congression scandals ever.

This list can go on, but I think you get the point......

About the Ebay Plane:

Do you sella 2 year old car for the same as a new car?

The plane was not worth 2.7 after it was used.

You have to factor in depreciation of a used asset. Considering Alaska was leasing it for $63,000 every 3 months, Alaska benefitted. She did put it on ebay, it sold offline after 3 failed attempt. And it was sold for a profit when you factor in depreciation, maintenance cost and upkeep.

The state took a write-off in depreciation. Every do tax accounting 101.

Fact is, she sold the plane to save the tax payers money. Either way, the attacks make her look favourable.
