In the last week, Senator Obama has been courted centrist and evangalists, but he hasn't abandoned his liberal values.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, who previously said the issue of gay marriage should be left up to each state, has announced his opposition to a California ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriages. In a letter to the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club read Sunday at the group's annual Pride Breakfast in San Francisco, the Illinois senator said he supports extending "fully equal rights and benefits to same-sex couples under both state and federal law."
"And that is why I oppose the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other states," Obama wrote.
Meanwhile, on the extreme right side:
John McCain’s position on California’s marriage amendment has officially switched from supporting the voters’ right to define marriage as they see fit to endorsing efforts to prohibit same-sex marriage by amending the state’s constitution, according to a statement by the Log Cabin Republicans.
I find this all interesting considering that McCain is considering two supposedly gay folks as his Vice President. One is Florida's Governor Charlie Crist. The other is former Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala, who was just outed by Politico....

Yeah so? Your hero Obama is not in favor of allowing us to marry either. So, your point?
