SPEAK UP | St Ann's Hosted Benefit For Peace in Iraq & Justice at Home

Last night, St Ann's hosted "SPEAK UP! A Benefit for Peace in Iraq & Justice at Home", a benefit for NYC United for Peace and Justice and Iraq Veterans Against the War.

Here's how the event was described to me (including an incomplete setlist):

I got to St Ann's right before David Byrne went on and he only played two songs, "One Fine Day" and "Ain't So Far," a song he co-wrote with brian eno. Then Laurie Anderson and Blonde Redhead each did two songs. The Scissors Sisters did "Lights", "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" and "Man in Uniform". Moby then did an unknown cover and then one of his popular ones, cant think of name, maybe "Honey"?

Damien Rice did two songs and I dont know the names of them, but the second one he unplugged his guitar and sang without the mic. The place got totally quiet and it ended up being one of the highlights.

Antony rambled for 20 minutes, half the crowd left, it was totally annoying, and then finally sang a song that was very beautiufl

Lou did "Christmas in February" then "Voices of Freedom" with guests. Then he came out for an encore of "Voice of Freedom" AGAIN, but this time with everybody.

halified:

that all looks pretty accurate except Moby's second song was definitely Honey.

Sounds great! Your blog is one of my most favorite now ;). You have hit the nail on the head, just like you always do.

Hell yeah! This post sounds really good. Reading your blog is useful and interesting. Keep it that way.
