Lady Madge is the latest superstar to announce an untraditional new record. This all-inclusive deal, that includes music, merch and tour support, is how I suspect the future of the industry will be laid out..........
Madonna has inked an unprecedented $120 million deal with California concert promoter Live Nation in which she would abandon Warner Music Group in favor of life without a traditional record contract, sources said.Live Nation will pay $17.5 million up-front plus $50 million for three albums produced by Madonna.
The concert-promotion company will then hand over $50 million in cash and stock for the right to promote her concert tours and merchandise, sources said.
The contract does not require that the 49-year-old star go on tour to promote her albums.
The rich price is also a big risk for Live Nation, which will have to sell at least 15 million copies of each of the three new Madonna albums in order to recoup its investment on that piece of the deal, sources said
