According to Pitchfork, Morrissey turned down an incredible $75,000,000 to tour with Johnny Marr under "The Smiths" banner. So a Smiths reunion is out.
Damn, I was really hoping to book them for our CMJ Marathon shindig. Which got me thinking? If not Smiths, what other seminal group from the 80's would I want to reform? I'd want all the original members to be involved and I'd want them to still be able to throw down an unbelievable show. With that in mind, I would like to make the following offer:
Product Shop NYC is offering Operation Ivy the incredible amount of $1,000 to reunite for one show in Brooklyn during the 2007 CMJ Music Marathon.
That's right. The offer is on the table. We want Jesse Michaels, Tim "Lint" Armstrong, Matt "McCall" Freeman and Dave Mello to get on stage and do a headlining set of their classic Operation Ivy songs. This is a one-time offer. Valid through October 16th, 2007. If they want to accept this offer, they can email me at productshopnyc @ gmail.com.
And yes, we 100% serious about this offer........
