Ya know, I would make a comment, but I'm too nauseous at the fact that there are so many people who dont understand what a disaster for individual freedoms the socializing of healthcare would be. This title would be much more apt for an autobiography of this ignorant fool.

Please do share an example of "a disaster for individual freedoms the socializing of healthcare would be." I'm truly curious.....

Let's not forget that the current health care system doesn't look much like a "free market." Patients are completely shielded from what things cost, doctors cannot charge what they want, and then insurers reserve the right to try to bill you for random things retroactively. In centering all the power in a chaotic beaurocracy we've made it downright communist.
I hope Moore's movie actually suggests an alternative rather than merely indulging in silly theatrics - because any adult who's actually used the health care system already knows that it is completely fucked up. That's obvious.

I completely agree with the above post in that the current system is not dictated by the free market nearly enough. To answer your question Jason: Socialism is socialism by any other name. If you have to ask how this is going to limit individual choice then you're delusional. It has failed in nearly every country that adopted it. It's yet one more example of the left in this country attaching themselves to big government rather then the individual. Universal healthcare will be bureaucratically systematized and an even socialistic playing field ALWAYS means limited choice and freedoms...always. Govt is not efficient, it does not know what is best for us, it only has the power to subtract not add.

telex, it's failed in almost every country? how about the healthcare of France, the UK, Denmark and Canada, just to name a few. Failed?

I'm a Canadian who really likes the idea of universal health care but sees the problems in its delivery. We have some horror stories that relate many to wait times for surgery (my son had to wait over a year for knee surgery; he was 12 at the time) but generally you are covered and you receive excellent care. There are always exceptions but on the whole, with all the flaws and limitations of our system, from what I've read and heard anecdotally, I'd much rather be here than in the States...unless I was a multi-millionaire.

Well G, then you are the exception to the rule of your country's failed system. Hordes of canadians come here for medical procedures, but rarely do you ever see it the other way around. Halified, your ignorance doesnt justify a response. Every country you listed has a myriad of problems caused by the implementation of socialized healthcare. Bottom line: gov't = bad, indivudual = good.

Telex, by that equation: individual + poor = fucked. But I guess you don't really give a shit about the nearly fifty million uninsured U.S. citizens...

That's where the fundamental difference in philosophy exists between people like you and myself. I cherish the opportunity to fail, I want to live in a society where I can lie out in the gutter in my own vomit without a cent to my name. That's the only pure sense of freedom there is, history has proven that. Govt' can not provide an even playing field without controlling our choice and once you give up your ability to choose (taxes) you are no longer free. Medical insurance needs to be fixed but not by putting the onus on an inefficient govt but by allowing people more flexibility in how they are insured or opt out of insurance if need be. Why do you have more faith in govt than you do the individual? If our lives are to be redistributed, who and by what means is it redistributed? By your math the poor + govt = ?

Telex:
Just what qualifies you to say the Canadian health care system has failed? Being American?
'Hordes' of Canadians do not go to the States for treatment. Some do; very few really. The ones that do go usually make the news here so it's not that common. Those are the ones who have ridiculously long waits for procedures.
If you need care here, you get it. The length of time you wait is too long sometimes but if you are in serious shape you get it and it's covered. My friend was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and the care he received was outstanding and immediate. And free.
The exceptions, in Canada, are those that do not receive prompt, quality care. It happens, as I'm sure it happens in all countries. It's not good and people are not happy when it does happen but to suggest that our medical care system has 'failed' is ignorant. I live with our medical system day in, day out. I think I'm better positioned to pass judgement on it than someone who writes it off from another country because it doesn't fall in line with your politics.

Hi
I don't mean to intrude on your discussion, and i don't want to seem like an idiot for not participating, but do any of you know the song in the trailer?

Hey guys! You know what I think? I think that all written here is bullshit, real lie. They are making us believe it’s true, they are trying to express it like it was in reality. Don’t believe it if you are not insane! There’s nothing special in this site, they just express regular news with unusual words. They can make something shocking out of anything! Don’t trust them!
